China’s economic and social development is inseparable from the development of science and technology, people are enjoying the convenience brought by science and technology, but also facing the problem between the application of science and technology and social development. Marx’s works contain a wealth of thought on scientific and technological innovation and are still of important value in the contemporary era, and provide an action guide for contemporary scientific and technological innovation, and maintain to guide our country’s science and technology development under the Marx thought of scientific and technological innovation, and provide the important practical significance to solve the problems facing our country’s science and technology development. It plays an important role in building a powerful nation of science and technology, and is conducive to promoting the sound development of science and technology undertakings. The current social development needs to increase the investment in science and technology. Based on the analysis from the perspective of development, advanced science and technology leads our country to constantly explore new fields, and mastering the core science and technology that has an important impact on the destiny of the country still has certain practical significance for the current construction of an innovation-oriented country

Application of the fuzzy logic in content-based image retrieval

This paper imports the fuzzy logic into image retrieval to deal with the vagueness and ambiguity of human judgment of image similarity. Our retrieval system has the following properties: firstly adopting the fuzzy language variables to describe the similarity degree of image features, not the features themselves; secondly making use of the fuzzy inference to instruct the weights assignment among various image features; thirdly expressing the subjectivity of human perceptions by fuzzy rules impliedly; lastly we propose an improvement on the traditional histogram called the Average Area Histogram (AAH) to represent color features. Experimentally we realized a fuzzy logic-based image retrieval system with good retrieval performance.Facultad de Informátic

Molecular typing of mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates circulating in Jiangsu Province, China

Abstract

Background

Globally, China is the second place with high burden of tuberculosis (TB). To explore the characteristics of the pathogens of <it>Mycobacterium tuberculosis </it>(MTB) circulating in this area is helpful for understanding and controlling the spread of the strains. Recent developments in molecular biology have allowed prompt identification and tracking specific strains of MTB spreading through the population.

Methods

Spacer-oligonucleotide typing (spoligotyping) and mycobacterial interspersed repetitive units variable number tandem repeat (MIRU-VNTR) were performed in combination to yield specific genetic profiles of 260 MTB strains isolated from 30 counties of Jiangsu province in China between June and July 2010. The spoligotyping results were in comparison to the world Spoligotyping Database of Institute Pasteur de Guadeloupe (SpolDB4). Drug susceptibility test (DST) was performed on all strains by proportion method on Lowenstein-Jensen (LJ) culture media.

Results

Based on the spoligotyping method, 246 strains displayed known patterns and 14 were absent in the database. Predominant spoligotypes belonged to the Beijing family (80.4%). By using the 24-loci VNTR typing scheme, 224 different patterns were identified, including 20 clusters and 204 unique patterns. The largest clade comprised 195 strains belonging to the Beijing family. The combination of spoligotyping and 24-loci MIRU-VNTR demonstrated maximal discriminatory power. Furthermore, we observed a significant association between Beijing family strains and drug-resistant phenotypes. The Beijing family strains presented increased risks for developing multi-drug resistant TB, with the OR (95% CI) of 11.07(1.45-84.50).

Conclusions

The present study demonstrated that Beijing family isolates were the most prevalent strains circulating in Jiangsu province of China. The utility of spoligotyping in combination with 24-loci MIRU-VNTR might be a useful tool for epidemiological analysis of MTB transmission.</p

Semipolar (202Ì…1Ì…) GaN and InGaN Light-Emitting Diodes Grown on Sapphire

We have demonstrated growing uniform and purely nitrogen polar semipolar (202̅1̅) GaN epilayers on 2 in. patterned sapphire substrates. The as-grown surface of (202̅1̅) GaN is composed of two stable facets: (101̅0) and (101̅1̅). A chemical mechanical polishing process was further used to planarize the surface with a final surface root-mean-square roughness of less than 1.5 nm over an area of 10 × 10 μm2. InGaN light-emitting diodes were grown on a polished (202̅1̅) GaN/sapphire template with an electroluminescence emission at around 490 nm. Our work exhibits the potential to produce high-quality nitrogen-polar semipolar GaN templates and optoelectronic devices on large-area sapphire substrates with economical feasibility

Evidence of a resonant structure in the e+e−→π+D0D∗−e^+e^-\to \pi^+D^0D^{*-} cross section between 4.05 and 4.60 GeV

The cross section of the process e+e-→π+D0D*- for center-of-mass energies from 4.05 to 4.60 GeV is measured precisely using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Two enhancements are clearly visible in the cross section around 4.23 and 4.40 GeV. Using several models to describe the dressed cross section yields stable parameters for the first enhancement, which has a mass of 4228.6±4.1±6.3  MeV/c2 and a width of 77.0±6.8±6.3  MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. Our resonant mass is consistent with previous observations of the Y(4220) state and the theoretical prediction of a DD¯1(2420) molecule. This result is the first observation of Y(4220) associated with an open-charm final state. Fits with three resonance functions with additional Y(4260), Y(4320), Y(4360), ψ(4415), or a new resonance do not show significant contributions from either of these resonances. The second enhancement is not from a single known resonance. It could contain contributions from ψ(4415) and other resonances, and a detailed amplitude analysis is required to better understand this enhancement
